How water rockets are recovered safely

During flights water rockets can go up more than 50 meters so it's important to recover it safely from high altitudes. The ways to do this are 2, using parachutes or making the rocket able to resist a hard impact.
  • Parachutes: They are usually made of kitchen plastic covers or plastic bags and are ejected when rockets reach their maximum altitude. This can by configured by using electronic altimeters, electronic timers or other mechanical timers. They are usually placed on a compartment on top of rockets or placed radially above them.
  • Hard impact: This is a less common way to recover water rockets. It's use only with small water rockets that don't reach more than 20 meters. It consists in making the rocket stronger and able to resist hard impacts by making it as lightweight as possible, using a strong nosecone and reinforced all the rocket structure including the fins.
